ANNUAL REPORTS

WAIHI SOCIETY

The President, Mrs Margaret Wells, reported at the A.G.M., that meetings had been well attended with some very interesting programmes. These included:

Mrs Cherry Gay Trip to Antarctica

Mr Ian Robinson Coast to coast marathon

Mr Phil Clarke Clerk of the Court

Mr Jim Courtney Bees

Other meetings were spent reminiscing on old gramophones and records and a discussion on the Honours Board. The Society was visited by the Orewa Society in March and entertained them to lunch.

Mrs Wells extended the Society's sympathy to Mrs Deverell and the family of Mr Lance Deverell who had passed away. He was one of the Society's former Presidents.

Thanks were expressed to the Committee, to all those members who had assisted in the functioning of the Society, to W.A.C.M.A. for the use of their rooms and to Trust Bank for its grant towards the cost of the Journal.

PAEROA SOCIETY

The President, Mr Arthur Reid, reported at the A.G.M., that the Society had concluded another year of progress and varied activities.

The President said that the Museum continues to be a source of interest, both to local people and travellers. A policy of only accepting for display articles that have some relativity or historical connection with the area, had been adopted.

During the year Officers attended a seminar hosted by the Matamata Historical Society and the President and Secretary attended a Tourism Coromandel Seminar in Paeroa.
