ANNUAL REPORT - WAIHI HISTORICAL SOCIETY - 1977

I am pleased to report that Mr. McAra's book is now in the hands of the Publications Committee and they are very pleased with it.

Not only will it preserve the history of Mining here, but will be the framework for the town history that this Society has been working toward, for the past years.

The book in conjunction with the Miners Re-union, has brought a great deal of material to us and we now have the task of cataloguing all the photos and books etc., in an operative library. This will make reference easy and much more interesting.

Membership rose through the year and we now have 172 Single, 51 Family, and 10 Life Members. A total of 233, against 218 of last year. This is the end of my term as President, and I must say it has been a very great pleasure to me, to work with you all, and I thank you indeed, for your help since 1973. I will of course remain on the Committee as Librarian, and on the Publications Committee, with your approval.

As Mrs. Rosborough will also be giving up office this year, I would especially like to thank her on your behalf for the marvellous work she has done for us all.

I wish the incoming President and Committee good luck, and thank you again for your support.

M. ROYCROFT
