Ohinemuri Regional History Journal 21, June 1977

(Copied when Hist. Society visited Miss Findlay at Miranda 1972).

"Our forefathers did without sugar until the 13th Century, without coal fires until the 14th, without buttered bread until the 15th, without potatoes until the 16th, without coffee, tea and soap until the 18th. No gas, or electricity 'til the 19th & did without canned goods 'til the 20th Century.

Then came - aeroplanes, telephones, radios, automobiles, good roads, appliances & central heating". Now, what were you complaining about??
