Ohinemuri Regional History Journal 20, June 1976

Dear Members,

May I add a Greeting to you all and convey my sincere gratitude for your friendship and support. Always I have been greatly indebted to Pioneers who have patiently endured interviews and shared their knowledge of early days. Now I would like specially to thank those members, some of whom no longer live here, for the valuable Articles they have contributed to our Journal, and for appreciative letters sent to cheer us. I pay tribute also to the wonderful Committee Members with whom I have been privileged to work and to Mr. & Mrs. Barron whose co-operation and patience have been outstanding.

As many of you are aware, last year I was the honoured – and very surprised - guest at two farewell parties, one in Waihi and one in Paeroa. They were warm-hearted and wonderful. And so were your gifts. Bless you, and thank you so much. Although officially "retired", I have been happy this year to assist in the production of the current Journal but greatly regret my inability to take a major part in future activities. I will be with you in Spirit and trust the work will go on - from strength to strength.
