MR. C. GWILLIAM
is one of our most valued locally born historians, some of whose work we are holding for future issues, along with that of his late father. We sent greetings to his 90 year old Mother at Mt. Maunganui.
MR. GEO. WORTH
is one of the oldest miners still residing in his birthplace, Waihi, his father having been a pioneer prospector. He is always a willing and valuable source of reference. Our congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Worth who are celebrating their golden wedding this month.
MISS JEAN A CLARK, M.A.
was brought up in Mokai where her father was manager of the T.T.T. Coy's sawmills. She attended Hamilton High School, trained as a Teacher, gaining her M.A. Degree in History, and has taught at various Secondary Schools in the Auckland Province. Miss Clark retired from the service when Senior Mistress at Seddon Memorial Technical College and is now resident in Waihi where her services are of inestimable value as Secretary of the Waihi Historical Society.
MRS AUDREY YOUNG
was born at Thames, the eldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. G. Beck of Ngatea, where she attended the District High School. In 1944 she married Paul Young, a returned Serviceman, and since 1945 they have been farming at Waitawheta where they have reared five children. Mrs. Young has wide interests including her Painting and study of Geology and local History. She is a member of the W.A.C.M.A. Council and has done particularly valuable work as a Committee Member of both the Art and the Geology Group, as well as serving in a very helpful capacity on the Publishing Committee of the Historical Society, where her talent for painstaking research has proved most valuable.
MR. C. W. MALCOLM, B.A.
is the Principal of Wesley Intermediate School in Auckland, and his excellent article is typical of his outstanding work as a Teacher and craftsman. It will be continued in our next Journal and we shall look forward to more from his able pen as he was identified with Paeroa for many years.
MR. A.A. JENKINSON.
After 44 years of unbroken service with the Ohinemuri County Council, resigned at the end of 1963, having earned a period of complete rest from clerical work. We appreciate his help, for he has so much valuable information "at his finger tips". In 1945 on the occasion of the 60th Jubilee of the County he edited an Historical Booklet of great merit.
The late Mr. "Jake" Fawcett
died about a year ago. He was an outstanding Head Master and is affectionately remembered by his many colleagues and 1000's of pupils as a great humanitarian. His last position was that of H.M., of the Auckland Normal School connected with the Teachers Training College. His sister Miss Annie Fawcett taught at Paeroa School 60 years ago.
Mesdames Binnie, Watt, Lockington, Miss Chalmers and Messrs Armour, Deverell and Wylde, deserve more mention than we have given them here, but we shall make amends later.
Finally we thank retiring Committee Members who have served so loyally.
