Mr Morrison died at Thames Hospital on 14 June 1996. He was born at Thames in 1910, the eldest child of Hugh and Mary Morrison's nine children. Mary was a member of the Innis family from Wharepoa and with her marriage to Hugh Morrison two of Hikutaia's early settler families were joined. He attended Hikutaia's School with his brothers and sisters, Sadie (Strange), Agnes (Allison), Hugh, Jean (Allen), Malcolm, George, Jim and Innis. Leaving school at 15 he began a successful farming career. In 1934 he married Madeline Homer. Madeline was the daughter of Frederick and Irene Homer, the managers of the local Farmers Trading store on Ferry Road, Hikutaia.

Before purchasing their own farm in 1942 they lived and worked on Arthur's father's farm. After 32 years on their Komata farm, Mr and Mrs Morrison retired to Paeroa. Shortly before his death they moved to Whangamata.
