The firm McIndoe and Guernier Limited, was sold during 1992 when the partners, Harold McIndoe and Jack Guernier retired.

McIndoe and Guernier Limited had its origins in 1962 when Harold purchased Merv Weatherley Motors. Harold had worked for Merv Weatherley in the office and parts for ten years prior to this. At that stage the firm had an association with Hawke Motors of Te Aroha, the Ford franchise holder, to sell and service those vehicles. In 1963 Jack Guernier, who was foreman for Hawke Motors, joined Harold in partnership, with Harold looking after the office and sales and Jack taking over the responsibilities of the workshop. Some five years later they purchased the building from Merv Weatherley and then a further three years later purchased the Druids Hall in Queen Street and renovated it into a large modern workshop. This gave room in the original building for an expanded parts department, plus accessories and lube bay.

The firm made steady progress until it received a setback in 1975 when the Ford Motor Company appointed Kevin Pascoe Motors their full franchise holder for the Paeroa area. After 12 months selling and servicing BMC vehicles on behalf of A R Johns of Te Aroha, the Nissan franchise for the area became available. This was obtained and the firm then made progress again. A new show room was built across the road from the original building. (The old Civic Theatre site.)

The business is now operated under the name Brian Tunnicliffe Nissan.
