In September 1990 a special service and luncheon were features of the 60th anniversary celebrations of St Paul's Mothers' Union (Paeroa). The Mothers' Union in Paeroa was started by Mrs Weedon, wife of Rev. W H G Weedon, vicar at St Paul's Paeroa, from 1927 to 1954. About 130 people attended including many past and present members, representatives of Mothers' Union groups from neighbouring towns, St Paul's Women's Fellowship and all other church groups in Paeroa.
Bishop of Waikato, the Right Rev. Roger Herft, who officiated at the service at St Paul's was assisted by Vicar of St Paul's, Rev. Florence Chambers, Archdeacon Kem Baigent and Canon Gordon Kaa.
A team from the Women's Fellowship, led by June Snelgar and Vilma Thompson, served a beautifully prepared luncheon, and enrolling member Mary McIndoe carried out the duties of Master of Ceremonies.
Bishop Herft was guest speaker and told of his recent visit to the Anglican Consultative Conference in England. He paid a tribute to motherhood, explaining how the Mother's Union had spread so quickly around the world.
After a short period of fellowship the birthday cake was ceremoniously cut by Mrs Nellie Shaw, daughter of a foundation member.
