Mining equipment salvaged from remote mining sites by Mr Glenn Mayclair of Waihi is now displayed at the site of the former Waikino Battery.
The equipment was moved there in November 1989 as part of the Department of Conservation plan to develop the site. It originally came from three Coromandel Peninsula Gold Mines - Neavesville, the Royal Standard near Wharekiraupunga and the Chelmsford mine near Tairua. Much of the heavy equipment was made by A & G Price and Charles Judd foundriesatThames during last century.
