On June 12th 1983 the Historical Society was well represented at Te Piao Hauraki Marae on the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of St. John the Apostle Church in Rotokuhu [Rotokohu? – E] Road.
We were proud to be part of the traditional ceremony enacted, and as we took our turn in welcoming further groups of visitors, marvelled at the tranquillity and graciousness of our Maori hosts. Hospitality was extended to include a generous meal before departure.
