One of our oldest citizens, Mrs Broadfoot (91) has lived in Rata Street for 57 years She was a daughter of Mr Coutts (mining inspector), of Thames, came to Waihi as a bride in 1900, and has reared a family of 12 all of whom are living. Robert, Georgina, John and James are still in Waihi, the others being Margaret, Clifford, Norman, Mary, Mabel and Bill (Reg), (Auckland), Hugh (Whangarei) and Jean (Mt. Maunganui). Mrs Broadfoot has always been a keen gardener and she still knits and enjoys a game of cards.
