Andrew Scobie from Scotland, tunnelled out the rock face first to use as a home, like they did in Scotland.

Andrew Scobie was reported to have worked in the Martha Mine and knew how to use explosives.

Mrs Williams is recalling what her mother had told her as a child. Andrew Scobie being her grandfather.

In 1935 Peter Brady who owned a shop in Waihi, bought the farm and employed his son Charlie to manage it.
